Navy Pier

This is one of thee most touristy sites to see in this city....but, that does not mean you can write it off as an excuse not to go. If you choose not to go, you will be sorry as there is plenty to see/do and it's very family friendly. For starters, since I love to eat, there are plenty of restaurants catering to almost everything under the sun. Games, shopping, lovely parks, beautiful views of the city and lake and good people watching. Then there's the huge ferris wheel that is an experience that everyone should try at least once. Although it's not that often I make it to Navy Pier, I'm usually very happy once I get there. If possible, go during the week as the weekends, especially during the summer, can be a true test of patience dealing with the crowds.

Tienes hambre?

ok i'll admit, this must be one of the most popular dining spots in the city of chicago, but the fact of the matter is, cafe iberico does not disappoint with its spanish influenced tapas, festive atmosphere, great drinks and sexy clientele, it's hard to go wrong. on warm summer chicago nights, especially on the weekends, this place is jammed packed! my advice is to visit during the week when the wait is not so bad. keep in mind, this place does not take reservations, but if you're still craving tapas and don't want to deal with the extended wait and willing to venture across town, people lounge is an excellent alternative. sorry, no love for cafe ba ba reba.

The Shrine

One of the newest, hipper than thou, night clubs to venture onto the Chicago nightlife scene is called The Shrine. Named after a night club in Lagos, Nigeria and owned by the late, great Nigerian composer, Fela Kuti. I had the very fortunate opportunity to see what all hype was about prior to the official opening. It was clear that the emphasis of this place would be on the muzak, which by the way, was solid! I would describe it as visually stunning with an anything goes atmosphere and definitely saw much potential. Although I haven't been since my initial visit, I plan on returning in the near future.
